Day 1: Arrival in Tokyo

Upon arrival at Narita or Haneda Airport, exchange your JR Pass voucher for the JR pass and take the respective transport to your accommodation. Check in, then have the evening free exploring Shinjuku!

Day 2: Wonderful day in Tokyo

Today is dedicated to exploring Tokyo, via public transportation. We recommend either going towards the area around Shibuya, comprising of Omotesando, Harajuku, Meiji Shrine and Shinjuku, or towards the Northeastern area, consisting of the Imperial Palace Hamarikyu Gardens, Tokyo SkyTree and Asakusa.

Day 3: Explore the giant buddha at Kamakura

We’d be heading to Kamakura today, a beautiful and peaceful countryside town just 1 hour from Tokyo, on a guided tour. You will visit some of the area’s famous attractions including the Giant Buddha and Hachimangu Shrine, before going to a guided tour around a beer brewery in the area!

Day 4: Sightseeing at Mount Fuji 

You will spend the day visiting the Hakone region in Kanagawa prefecture! A beautiful place where Mount Fuji can be sighted in its entirety on sunny days, explore the smoky scenery of Owakudani Valley, and take a cruise along Lake Ashi in a pirate ship, using a 2-day Hakone Free Pass.

Day 5: Explore historical government office of Takayama

Transfer to Takayama today and explore this quaint town reminiscent of old Japan! Visit Sanmachi Street (Old Town of Takayama) and Takayama Jinya(Historical Government office). If time permits, we recommend heading to the Hida Folk Village, where traditional Japanese thatched roof buildings are converted into museums!

Day 6: Shirakawago day trip

Take the public bus to Shirakawago, a UNESCO World Heritage site, from Takayama Station. Enjoy the sight of historical farmhouses with unique architectural characteristics, called gassho-style houses in Japanese.

Day 7: Transfer to Kyoto

Take the train from Takayama station to Nagoya station, then transferring to the bullet train at Kyoto Station. Check in to your hotel and have some free time for the rest of the day!

Day 8: The wonders of the western part of Kyoto

Today is dedicated to visiting the western part of Kyoto, in particular Arashiyama! Take the Sagano Romantic Train which winds through beautiful mountain scenery, then come back down via the Hozugawa River via a traditional boat cruise! After that, visit the famed bamboo forests, before heading to Kinkakuji, the Golden Pavillion. Have the evening free.

Day 9: Beautiful temple of Kyoto 

You will visit the eastern part of Kyoto today. Start off with Fushimi Inari Taisha, the area with over 10,000 shrine gates, made famous by the movie Memoirs of a Geisha. After that, head to Nishiki Market where you’d enjoy Kyoto’s soul foods such as pickled vegetables or matcha sweets. Head to Kiyomizudera Temple and check out the beautiful views of Kyoto from the temple. Lastly, stroll through the quarters of Gion and see if you can spot a Geisha!

Day 10: Visit the amazing Nara park

Today you’ll explore the beautiful city of Nara on a day trip from Kyoto! Taking the train from Kyoto Station, you will visit Todaiji Temple, Isuien (a beautiful Japanese gardenscape), and get to feed free roaming deer at Nara Park!

Day 11: Transfer to Hiroshima

Take the bullet train to Hiroshima today. You will visit sites pertaining to the bombing of Hiroshima during World War 2, including the A-bomb dome, Hiroshima Peace Park memorial, and the museum. At night, enjoy some of Hiroshima’s famous okonomiyaki, or Japanese pancake!

Day 12: Ferry trip to Miyajima

Taking the ferry to Miyajima, you will see Itsukushima-Shrine, one of the top 3 sights in Japan and was designed to appear as if it is floating on sea. If time permits, a visit to Mount Misen would entail a beautiful view from the top, which is accessible via ropeway.

Day 13: Himeji exploring and transfer to Osaka

En-route to Osaka today, you will visit Himeji Castle, one of Japan’s most famous historical castles and considered a nationally important cultural property in Japan, and nearby Kokoen, a beautiful Japanese garden. Take the bullet train to Shin-Osaka Station, and transfer to Osaka station before checking in to your hotel. Have the evening free in Osaka.

Day 14: Discover Osaka's famous sights 

Transfer to Osaka from Kyoto today. Visit some of Osaka’s famous sights such as Osaka Castle, Umeda Sky Building and Shin-Sekai. At night, head to the bustling area of Dotonbori, where the lights are bright and the food signs make for whimsical sights!
