Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Your guide will show you around the capital city of Croatia, and recommend to you somewhere to eat in the heart of Croatia.
Today, you'll travel with an English-speaking guide on a tour to see the green hills north of the capital city. Drive through amazing landscapes, stopping off to visit the castle of Trakošćan and old baroque town of Varaždin. On the way back to Zagreb, you'll get to enjoy a fresh, home-cooked local meal. Zagorje region is particularly well-known for its cuisine. In the evening, explore Zagreb by foot.
Head towards the coast of Croatia, stopping off at the stunning town of Opatija. Continue on to Istria, the smallest city in the world, boasting monuments that represent the glagolic alphabet used by Croatians since 9th century. Continue to town of Rovinj, a colourful town on the rocky island. Dinner and accommodation in Rovinj.
Istria is known as the Tuscany of Croatia. Its cuisine is one of the best known in the area, with wine that will make you never want to leave. Explore Istria by visiting the town of Poreč, a fine example of Venetian architecture, then on to the city of Pula, the biggest in Istria with a magnificent Roman amphitheatre. In the afternoon, set off to the beautiful Istrian inland, with small towns hidden in the hills. Return to Rovinj for dinner and overnight stay.
Prepare to set your eyes on one of the best know National Parks of Croatia: Plitvice Lakes. Spend the morning in Rijeka, the third largest city in Croatia and the biggest port in the country, hosting the third best known Carnival in the world! Continue on to Plitvice National Park, and explore this UNESCO protected wonder of nature that attracts millions of nature lovers from all over the world.
Head back along the coast. Today, you'll visit one of the best known spots in Croatia, the old Roman town of Zadar. Listen to the sea organs play music and walk through the cobblestone streets of this ancient city. Continue on to Trogir, an old Venetian town bursting with Croatian history. In the evening, you'll arrive in Split, a great historical town in the heart of Dalmatia. Overnight in Split.
Stroll down the streets of Split, heading to the only preserved Roman Emperor palace protected by UNESCO. Learn from your guide about the history of the palace and the city, and soak up the Dalmatian lifestyle in Croatia's second-largest city.
Drive down the old road of the Croatian coastline, passing many little towns en-route. Stop off for oyster tasting, stroll along the stone walls, learn about value of the salt in ancient times, and continue on to Dubrovnik. You'll have the rest of the day free to explore Dubrovnik, taking pictures and having dinner in one of the best know cities in the world!
You'll spend your last day in Croatia on a guided tour of this UNESCO heritage protected city. Learn about the history that made Dubrovnik so famous. Then, join the boat cruise around the walls of the city, and in the evening enjoy the cuisine of the region, sitting back with a glass of wine at sunset.
