Day 1: Welcome to Iceland!

Transfer to your accommodation in Reykjavik

Day 2: The Westfjords

Transfer to the rental car pickup location and grab the keys to your vehicle

• Begin your self-drive tour of the Westfjords of Iceland starting with Borgarfjörður fjord

• Visit the Eiríksstaðir Museum

• Soak in Guðrúnarlaug a small geothermal pool

• Detour to Fellsströnd for some great birding

• Overnight in Vogur

Day 3: Explore Strandir

• Discover the farming villages of Hólmavík and Drangsnes

• Continue to Djúpavík – as remote as it gets 

• Don’t forget to check out the Museum of Icelandic Sorcery & Witchcraft

Day 4: Isafjördur

• The drive from Hólmavík to Ísafjörður is one of the more scenic stretches of road. Keep your camera handy! 

• Go sea kayaking in Súðavík

• Ísafjörður is full of friendly locals, restaurants, sculptures and museums

• There's also great hiking in the area!

Day 5: Day at leisure

• Spend a full free day in Ísafjörður

• We recommend taking a boat cruise to Hornbjarg bird cliff

• Other optional activities include: sea angling, riding tours, kayaking, 4x4 tours and hiking

• Or, try the traditional approach and rent a bicycle to explore on your own

Day 6: Látrabjarg bird cliff

• First up, Dynjandi – one of Iceland’s most beautiful waterfalls

• Visit Látrabjarg – the largest bird cliff in Iceland

• Be on the lookout for the magnificent White Tailed Eagle

• Return and spend the night in the Patreksfjörður

Day 7: The Snaefellsnes peninsula

• Leave the Westfjords and procees to Snæfellsnes peninsula

• Visit the Rauðisandur red sand beach

Catch the ferry Baldur across the Breiðafjörður bay to Stykkishólmur (3h)

• Head to the mystical Snæfellsjökull glacier. Please do not hike onto the glacier without a guide!

• On the way, visit places such as Bjarnarhöfn Shark Museum, Hellnar cove and the coastal villages of Grundarfjörður, Ólafsvík and Hellissandur

Day 8: Return to Reykjavik

• Start by exploring Borgarfjörður fjord

• Be sure to visit Hraunfossar waterfalls and Deildartunguhverhot springs

• Go for a short hike to Glymur – the tallest waterfall in Iceland

Return the rental car and check-in to your hotel in Reykjavik

• If your flight is in the afternoon, we recommend a visit to the Blue Lagoon (reservation required)
