You will be able to learn about Sri Lanka’s vast history and religious background that has made this small island a famous pilgrimage site for many Buddhist. The hiking paths that you will be visiting are that of Knuckles Range, Horton Plains, Little Adam’s Peak and Lipton’s Seat. ​You will then visit the well known Udawalawe National Park that is known for its large herds of Elephants roaming undisturbed. At the end of the tour you can relax at the beach sipping a delicious tropical cocktails soaking in the warm Sri Lankan sun and swimming in the Indian Ocean.

Day 1: First day to acclimatize yourself to the tropical weather

"Ayubowan" is the local word for hello. You will be greeted by your driver who will take you to the beaches of Negombo. Here you can just relax and acclimatize to the tropical weather. You can also already take your first swim in the beautiful warm Indian Ocean.

Day 2: A day to see some of the most popular places in Sri Lanka

After breakfast you will start your journey towards the cultural triangle of Sri Lanka, Sigiriya. In the afternoon you will visit Sigiriya Rock, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is regarded by many as an architectural wonder of the world. A 370-meter granite rock with a magnificent palace that was built around 475 AD. Once you reach the plateau you are faced with breathtaking views of the surrounding area. In case you arrive too late, you will do this the following day.

Day 3: Different visits followed by local food

After morning breakfast, you will visit the one of Sri Lanka's ancient cities. Polonnaruwa, which was the second capital of Sri Lanka, was protected by six kilometers of encircling walls. The highlight of Polonnaruwa is the Gal Vihara Rock Sculptures where an unknown 12th century sculptor carved three giant figures of the Buddha plus a chapel into a granite cliff-face. Lunch will be served at the Priyamali Gedara on the shores of the giant Parakrama Samudraya, the Island's largest manmade reservoir, which was built around the 10th century. Once you have filled up your stomach with some delicious local food you will return back to Sigiriya.

Day 4: Know more about Sri Lanka by visiting its well known sites

As usual, after breakfast you will drive towards the famous Knuckles Range, which is named like this because of its resemblance to knuckles of the fist. On route you will stop at the well-known Dambulla Cave Temple anther UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of the most famous cave complex of magnificent Buddha Images and Rock Paintings of vivid colours and shapes. Once you reach the hotel you can just relax and enjoy the beautiful views from the hotel and explore the area on your own.

Day 5: Get ready for some hiking

First breakfast, after that, you will head out and enjoy a lovely track through the beautiful green paths of Knuckles Range. The changing terrain of grasslands, rugged mountain peaks interspersed with streams and cascading waterfalls make Knuckles mountain range that covers an area of 18512 hectares the trekker’s paradise. Please make sure that you bring good hiking shoes and water. The track will take a few hours. You will return back to the hotel where you can relax the rest of the day.

Day 6: Time to see the tooth relic of the Budha

You will be driven towards the old capital of Sri Lanka after breakfast - Kandy, on the way you will stop at a Spice garden in Matale, where you will be taken on a private tour of the gardens. Furthermore, you will be taken on a tour of an artisanal Batik factory. Late afternoon you will visit the renowned Kandy temple, also known as "The Temple of the "Tooth", where the tooth relic of the Buddha lies. Once you have soaked in the calming atmosphere of the temple you will be taken to the lively sounds of the traditional Kandyan dance performance.

Day 7: Do you know about "the little England of Sri Lanka"?

Today you will visit the Peradeniya Botanical Garden where you will take a stroll through the beautiful greenery and can learn a bit about the different plant species that are found across the island of Sri Lanka. After having walked through the beautiful gardens you will jump on the train and ride towards the hill country of Sri Lanka, Nuwara Eliya that is also known as “Little England” of Sri Lanka because of its quaint British type cottages, set amidst verdant hills. The ride to Nuwara Eliya is definitely one of the highlights of your tour as you will pass some luscious greens and tea plantations as far as the eye can see. Once you arrive in Nuwara Eliya you will take a city tour of the city and will visit a tea plantation before driving to your hotel.

Day 8: Experience the strange and mysterious silence of the Horton Plains

A little change for today, you will take your breakfast with you in a packet, which you can enjoy on the way. You will visit the misty grassland plateau of Horton Plains, a national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site. It sits at an elevation of more than 2,000 m (6,500 ft) about 20 km from Nuwara Eliya. There is a strange and mysterious silence about the place, and it has some excellent walks. The most amazing feature of Horton Plains is World’s End, where the southern part of the plains drops almost vertically for 700 m. The ideal time to view this site is at dawn, when the mountains are free of mist and the sun is just rising. Once you have enjoyed your hike you will return back to the hotel where you can relax for the rest of the day.

Day 9: The Nine Arches Bridge : ​One of the most iconic bridges in Sri Lanka

Today you have a relaxed morning as you drive towards the beautiful small city of Ella. This part of Sri Lanka has become more and more popular amongst foreigners and locals alike because of the charm that is found within the small city. Once you reach Ella you can just relax a bit and visit the famous 9 arches bridge, which is one of the most iconic bridges in Sri Lanka. People also call this bridge “Ahas namaye palama” (Nine skies bridge) because of its height.

Day 10: Many places to see : Adam's Peak, endless valleys, delicious lunch...

For this day after breakfast, you will start exploring the surrounding area of Ella. First you will go to small tracking path of Little Adam's Peak, the journey will take you about 30 min but once you reach the top it will definitely be worth it as you will be presented with breathtaking views of an endless valley, tea plantations and waterfalls. Once you return back to down you can enjoy a delicious lunch in town if you like. Afterwards you will visit the Ravana waterfalls a beautiful sight with a sad but interesting historical background. You will then continue towards Ella. Once you reach the hotel you can just relax the rest of the day.

Day 11: Discover the tea plantation

As for today, you will have an early morning start, but first you will enjoy a good breakfast to energize for the day. Today your journey will take you to the Lipton's Seat (not Lipton Tea). This tea plantation marked the beginning of tea exports from Sri Lanka. Once you arrive at your hotel you can freshen up and change into your safari gear as you embark on an afternoon safari of the park (around 02:30pm).

Day 12: Learn more about the Udawalawe Elephant today

After breakfast you will visit the Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home that is known to take in orphaned, injured or once captured and worker elephants. Here the baby elephants are rehabilitated until strong enough to be set free into the wild. Afterwards you will continue towards the beautiful beach of Sri Lanka. Here you can relax for the following 3 days and just enjoy the tropical weather and discover the surrounding area.

Day 13: Relaxing day

Today you will head to your booked beach hotel where you can lay back and enjoy the beach and go through all the pictures that you have taken thus far on your trip of Sri Lanka.

Day 14: Have you ever riden a tuk-tuk? If not, time to try it

Today you can explore the surrounding area. It is very easy to wave down a tuk-tuk on the road and just discover things on your own. However, make sure that you bargain for your rate.

Day 15: Sunshine on the beach

Today is your last full day at the beach. Take in as much sun as possible before heading back to your home country.

Day 16: Time to go back home

Goodbye! Today is your last day in Sri Lanka. After breakfast you will drive to the airport. Please note that this can change based on your departure time (check-out from hotel is around 12pm).
