Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport - Welcome to Tanzania

Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport. There, issue your visa to get your luggage and go through customs. Meet and greet with the driver and transfer to the hotel.

Day 2: Arusha National Park with game drive

In the morning you will be picked up from the accommodation and drive to the Arusha National Park. Once there discover the park on first game drives in the morning. Around lunchtime visit the picnic site and enjoy the view over the park. After relaxing a bit proceed with the game drives around the Momella Lakes and through the park. Return to the accommodation in the evening.

Day 3: Tarangire National Park with hot lunch - herds of elephants and baobab trees

After breakfast, leave your accommodation and get to Tarangire National Park which is about 2-3 hours away from Arusha. Go for first game drives in the morning searching for herds of elephants and enjoying the beautiful landscape with the Baobab trees. For lunch, we invite you to Tarangire Safari Lodge with a beautiful view over the Tarangire River. After lunch proceeds with your game drives until late afternoon when you proceed to your accommodation.

Day 4: Tarangire National Park - also home to lions, zebras and wildebeests

Today you have another whole day in the Tarangire National Park. In addition to the large herds of elephants, the main attraction of the park, you will also find lions and zebras, buffalo and wildebeest near the water points. Explore the area with your guide. At noon, take a break at the public picnic areas and enjoy your lunch box. In the afternoon we will go back to the camp.

Day 5: Mto wa Mbu - the mosquito village on the edge of Lake Manyara National Park

The name Mto wa Mbu translated from the Swahili means mosquito village - but these little flies are found there only conditionally during the day. We take you on a journey through a typical Tanzanian village today. Take a guided tour and take a look behind the scenes of local artisans and sample the local banana beer. Your guide will tell you some stories about the Tanzanian way of life and the local village culture. For lunch, we invite you to take a seat under banana leaves and taste typical Tanzanian dishes. After refreshment, we continue up to the crater highlands to the next accommodation. The journey takes about 45 minutes - 1 hour. Pack a sweater - especially at night it can get a bit chilly.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Tour - diverse wildlife in a small area

Today you will make an unforgettable Ngorongoro crater tour. In the beginning, drive 600 m into the crater. Arrived at the crater floor, the game drives begin. Be impressed by the wildebeests, zebras and elephants. At the end of the rides, you will climb the steep crater wall with the safari car and proceed to your next accommodation.

Day 7: From the mainland fly to the Spice Island of Zanzibar

After breakfast leave Karatu and return to Arusha. Here your guide will drop you at Arusha Airport to catch your flight to Zanzibar. Driving time is around 2-3 hours from Karatu to Arusha Airport.

On arrival in Zanzibar, you will be warmly welcomed by your driver, who will transfer you to your beach hotel.

Days 8 to 10: Rest on the white sandy beaches 

Free days in Zanzibar - on-site you can organize your own excursions. Enjoy the last few days of vacation and let the waves of the Indian Ocean wash around your feet. The island is a quiet spot - perfect for relaxing and unwinding and to review the whole safari impressions of the last few weeks. Tips on excursions can be found in the notes. 

Stonetown Tour : 2500 limestone buildings (Stone Town) form the oldest and most interesting part of Zanzibar town. The small alleys, 45 mosques, 2 Christian churches and 4 Hindus halls invite to discover.

City tour : The city tour lasts half a day. You are accompanied by a guide who will explain the amusing, historical corners Stone Towns to you. You will visit a former slave market, the museum, the House of Wonders and the old fort. Also the visit of the local market is an experience.

Spice Tour : You will go to the middle of the island and discover the spice world of Zanzibar. You will stop at a small farm and get the tilled plants, spices and their medical use explained. On a distance of 20 km you cross smaller villages as for example Bububu, Kidichi and Kizimbani. You can try yourself some spices and fruits on site. Wonderful pictures can originate in the orchards.

Prison Island : You can plan this tour as a half day or whole day tour. The cruise by boat from Stone Town (big fig tree in the Forodhani market) takes approx. 35 minutes to the small Prison Iceland. This historically significant island was used earlier for slaves and then at times as a hospital or quarantine station with contagious illnesses. The island offers historical as well as regional charms, with its white sandy beaches which invite for swimming and snorkelling at the coral reefs. It is also famous for the giant tortoises and different bird's species.

Jozani Forest : The Jozani forest is located approx. 45 minutes in the south of Stone Town and is home for the red Colobus monkeys who you can only find there.These monkeys are very friendly contemporaries. You will go for a short walk in the forest and get different plants and types of trees explained.

Swahili culture: Discover the culture of the Swahili. Different traditional crafts of the Swahili are explained to you during the tour:Wicker production, weaving, potters, meals of millet, production of ropes from coconut, scaling of a coconut palm, establishment of a traditional house, bread bake, visit of a banana plantation, visit of a Koran school and of course the traditional music of the Swahili.

Ocean Safari: Today you will go from Fumba, approx. 40 minutes southwest from Stone Town, by a boat out to the Ocean for snorkeling. During the excursion, a delicate lunch with zanzibarian seafood is prepared. Soft drinks, as well as lunch, are included. You will go to Menai Bay, an incomparable water protection area, with dolphins, sandy beaches and coral reefs. Then you return to Fumba.

Day 11: End of Itinerary

Today your journey comes to an end. 3 hours before your flight departure you will be picked from the hotel and transferred to the airport.
