We planned our Tanzania trip together with Vera at Milestone Safari. We have told her roughly what we wanted to do (Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro, Serengeti and Zanzibar) and she suggested the itinerary and accomodation that we discussed and adapted together. The Serengeti was probably the most stunning of the Parks and maybe if time had been an issue I would have skipped Lake Manyara to go straight to the Ngorongoro. (Although the accomodation in Lake Manyara was amazing- Escarpment Luxury Lodge). All the accomodations had something special about them and ending with a couple of relaxing days in Zanzibar was just perfect.
The best parts:
We really enjoyed our trip to Tanzania and found the agency (Milestone Safari) during the planning, just before departure and during the trip incredibly helpful and efficient. We also really found our guide/driver George really good. He really made sure we had the best of times, solved easily any little problem that might have arisen and always with a positive and smiling attitude. We would really recommend Milestones and George for any Tanzania trip.
The worst parts:
I guess not much as we really loved it all. The only thing is that I would recommend to get your visas before arrival as the waiting times at the airport on arrival are very long.

With regards to the waiting time at the airport to get your visa, there has been a change in the procedure just recently which unfortunately has almost doubled the waiting period. This can be really annoying especially after a long flight - I totally feel you. We nowadays recommend clients to apply for their visa online prior to their trip to avoid long waiting times upon arrival.
We wish you all the best for the future and should you plan to return to Tanzania or Zanzibar any time in the future please don't hesitate to get in touch!

the roads --- very bumpy
the hike in ngorongora -- it was supposed to be 2 hours but it was a small 45 min walk in the woods -- not very interesting

The roads within the national parks can indeed be very bumpy as those are all dirt/rough roads, not tarmac roads. With regards to the Ngorongoro Crater View hike, this is really unforunate as this walk is supposed to take you to along the crater rim where you can have great views of the crater and surrounding highlands. We have spoken to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority who are responsible for the performance of those kind of activities and they promised to train their guides better to at least meet the standards. I do understand that the way this hike had been carried out was not satisfactory. I am very very sorry for that and we will ensure that this does not happen again.

We really enjoyed the Safari experience with the local agency despite the disappointing lack of bird knowledge.
Tent With A View, ******* staff and accommodation were amazing.
********* is one of the best guest houses we have stayed anywhere in the world.
Tanzania is wonderful and we hope to go back on a bird watching holiday in the future.
The best parts:
The trip was organised very well. Airport pick ups were very good.
The first part of our Safari in Selous with Tent With A View at ****** was excellent. The guides knowledge of animals and birds, the food and accommodation were fantastic.
The stay at ******* was amazing. The room, staff and food were of the highest quality.
The rest of our Safari was with another local agency. The guide's knowledge of the animals, plants, trees and history of the parks was very good.
The accommodation at *******, *********, and *******were very good.
The staff, facilities and food were all very good. We particularly enjoyed ******** as the staff were excellent.
We saw close up views of the animals and got fantastic photographs.
********, Zanzibar was a beautiful place to rest up after the busy Safari. Once more staffed with lovely, friendly and helpful people.
Great food. We could almost turn vegetarian because of the wonderful vegetarian food that was on offer alongside other dishes. A stunning beach.
A bit of paradise on earth, as is Tanzania in general. Wonderful country full of lovely people.
The worst parts:
We were particularly interested in the bird life of East Africa as well as the animals.
We were assured that our guide with the local agency would know all the birds and have a bird book with him.
Unfortunately this wasn't the case as there were very wide gaps in his knowledge. He knew some of the larger species but very little of the small, more interesting to us, birds.
We were very disappointed with this lack of bird knowledge.
It made it very difficult for us to try and identify them.
If it wasn't for the fact that we were able to get lots of photographs we would have had no chance of identifying a lot of birds we saw.
********* was the worst place we stayed. It was all facade and no substance.
It was supposed to be of the highest class but it was the only place where the room wasn't made ready for sleeping.
We even had the bed turned down and mosquito net prepared in the tented camp in Serengeti.
The food wasn't that good and the staff didn't seem to care.
Maybe we had been spoiled by the staff in all the other places.

I am very sorry that the guide could not meet your standards with regards to the birdlife in the parks of Northern Tanzania. We did speak about your special interest before your safari and he assured us that he will be prepared. My sincere apologies for him not being able to identify every bird for you.
I will also forward your comments about the lodge in Karatu to the management as this is really unacceptable. We have actually had good reviews for this property in the past but we will definitely look into it and in case their standard has dropped significantly, just like you experienced it, we will take all necessary steps.

Tanzania is beautiful. We started with Lake Manyara, continued on in Serengeti and Nogorongoro. And finished with Zanzibar.
We saw more animals than we thought possible. And were constantly in awe. The scenery was spectacular.
The best parts:
Fantastic trip. Everything was organised perfectly. Beautiful hotels in mainland Tanzania. Excellent guide.
The worst parts:
We did not like Zanzibar as much as the rest.

Tanzania is a truly beautiful place. The people are so warm and accepting, the sights are stimulating and beautiful and the atmosphere is relaxed and safe. I can't think of a better place to go on holiday and we wouldn't change anything.
The best parts:
Everything was brilliant. Our Safari was excellent, particularly because of our driver, George, who was extremely organised and very knowledgeable as well as having a great sense of humour and being very professional. All the accomodation was to a very good standard and most of it was outstanding. The agency was so organised - everything went like clockwork. Thank you.
The worst parts:
There were no problems whatsoever.

A wonderful trip all in all. Very exciting and interesting! I already recommended the trip with Vera's agency through Evaneos to a couple of friends. The best parts:
Very friendly people at the honey badger lodge, the Kilimanjaro tour and Safari. We felt very welcome. Delicous food all the time. We could really get in touch with some locals to understand the different cultures! Amazing wildlife on the safari and beautiful nature at the kili.
The worst parts:
The red monkey lodge lacked a bit of cleanliness,
