Day 1: Welcome to Madagascar!

Arrival in Antananarivo...

• You will be welcomed at IVATO international airport by our representative

Day 2: Malagasy Handicraft

Begin the journey heading all the way to the South! (4h)

Stop at the foundry in Ambatolampy

Continue to Antsirabe. Upon arrival, go for a rickshaw ride tour down Independence Street

• Visit a bicycle and tiny car workshop, and another that transforms zebu horns into an objects of decoration

• Arrive at your very unique hotel

The hotel was built by the Madalief Foundation in order to create jobs and opportunities for young people and single mothers in Ambositra

Day 3: 'City of Water' bicycle tour

• After breakfast, set off on a guided bicycle tour of the city & surrounding areas (4h)

Visit the crater of Tritriva Lake

• Continue biking to Andraikiba Lake to see the precious stone market sellers

• In the afternoon, you will be driven to Manandona by public local transportation

• Overnight in Villager’s Cottage

The holiday cottage is a project which aims to improve the living conditions of local people who earn their living from farming and agriculture, (around 80%)

Day 4: Hiking Mont Ibity

Hike to Mont Ibity, the fourth highest peak in the country at 2254 meters (7h)

• Learn about granite basaltic rock and semi-precious stones such as, quartz, beryl and Gemstone Tourmaline

• Explore the extraordinary landscape with its waterfall, natural swimming pool and a cave

• A traditional folkloric dance will end the journey with a typical Malagasy food of fresh products

Day 5: Malagasy daily life

Hike to the surrounding villages and discover local crafts

Learn about and contribute to daily local activities such as: livestock farming and / or agriculture

• Observe silk weaving methods

Participate in a cultural exchange with the members of the Villager’s Association

• In the afternoon, head to Antoetra, the gate way to Zafimaniry countryside (3h)

Day 6: The Zafimaniry Countryside

• Get those hiking boots back on! (7h)

Discover the countryside of Zafimaniry, home to one of the 18 ethnic groups in Madagascar

Explore different villages and hamlets scattered in the mountains of the region

• The Zafimaniry is known as the capital of Malagasy handicrafts. The crafts practiced here are listed as World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO

Day 7: The Fascinating Life Stage of Zafimaniry

• Begin the day's hike (5h) by exploring the charming village on a mountainous slope in the middle of rice terrace fields!

Marvel at architectural designs representing the beliefs and value of Zafimaniry

Continue hiking to Antoetra enjoying postcard worthy views on the way

• Upon arrival in Antoetra, get back in the car and drive to Ambositra (1h)

Day 8: Namorona River by canoe

​• In the morning, take a scenic drive to Ranomafana (4h)

• In the afternoon, set off on a canoeing excursion down the Namorona River (2h)

Day 9: Hiking in the Ranomafana National Park

Day 10: Meeting with the ring-tailed lemurs

​• Head to Ranohira (6h). Go for a little walk to see the old traditional houses (2h)

• Continue to Ambalavao to visit the Antemoro paper workshop​• Learn the legend of 'the three brothers'

• Meet the playful Catta lemurs!

Day 11: Hiking Isalo National Park

• Get ready for an hiking excursion in Isalo national park (3-7h)

• Explore the Baras tombs, the botanical garden, check out a great view point and end by the natural swimming pool

Day 12: Land of Baobabs and Discovery of Reniala Reserve

Head to Ifaty, a fishing village of Vezo nomads via Ilakaka, a small market town of Sapphire diggers (5h)

Baobab trees and multicolored tombs will accompany you along the way

• Upon arrival in Ifaty, visit the Reniala reserve full of turtles, chameleons among many others

• Discover the majestic 1000 year old baobab tree

Day 16: Flight back to the capital

• Today, you will leave the south and return to the capital

Transfer to Toliara airport and then fly to Antananarivo
