Day 1: Arrival At Antananarivo Airport

You have arrived...
• Upon your arrival, you will be welcomed at Ivato
   International Airport by our team  
• Transfer to your hotel, where - time permitting -
   we will brief you of your tour
• Enjoy your surroundings and have dinner at your
   hotel

Day 2: Venture to the Antsirabe Region

Aluminium production...
• After breakfast, leave the hotel and depart for   
   Antsirabe 
• Stop at the foundry in Ambatolampy with its
   aluminium production
• Explore the city on foot before lunch, then it's off to the village of Manandona


Day 3: Getting To Know Manandona

6-hours of hiking...
• Hike through the gorgeous rural countryside of
   Vakinakaritra  
• Ascend Mount Ibity (2254m) followed by a
   refreshing swim underneath a waterfall   
• Cross through the rice fields and small villages of the region, meeting local farmers along the way

Day 4: On to Fianarantsoa

Local craftspeople...
• Take the road up to Fianarantsoa, the capital of
   the Betsileo Highlands
• Stop in Ambositra and visit 'Zafimaniry'
   workshops, specialising in wood carvings  
• Arrive in Ambalavao in the afternoon and visit the artisanal workshop of Antaimoro paper

Day 5: The Massif of Andringitra

High trekking...
• Morning departure by a trail that winds through
   hills and valleys
• The massif of Andringitra consists of 3 majestic
   granite mountains in a beautiful setting 
• Cross the rainforest, explore caves and sacred
   falls before overnight camping


Day 6: A Day in the Jungle

More trekking...
• Continue walking uphill to 2100m for a
   panoramic overview of the site 
• On one side the lush vegetation of the rainforest, and in the other the grassland  
• Optionally, climb the peak Boby at 2658 meters,
   then back down before overnight camping

Day 7: Appreciating Landscapes in Andringitra

The third day...
• Another day of walking, down on the tray - to 
   1650 metres
• Enjoy the fascinating view of the lunar-like
   landscape  
• Spend overnight camping nearby

Day 8: From Andringitra to Ranohira by Car

Walking and driving...
• Walk to the starting point by crossing immense
   grasslands to reach the car around noon  
• Join onto the national road then the south road 
   to Ihosy 
• Cross the Savannah areas of Horombe Plateau
   before reaching Ranohira

Day 9: Walking to the Mangoky River

A tricky track...
• Departure at dawn to a difficult track leading to
   the edge of the river Mangoky
• Cross the river by ferry then join the track to the
   Makay massif
• Upon arrival, picnic lunch, then dinner and
   overnight camping

Day 10: Trekking in the Makay Massif

Three-day hike...
• Accompanied by guides and porters, explore the
   Makay massif property paths
• Climb in the high plateaus covered with dry
   forests typical of the west coast  
• Occasionally walk in streams and small rivers, and in the evening camp in bivouacs

Day 11: Nice Day of Trekking

Day two...
• Your average amount of hiking hours will be
   about 5 hours
• Climb in the high plateaus covered with dry

Day 12: Enjoying this Last Day of Hiking

Day three...
• Madagascar's first rock paintings have also been discovered in the Makay 
• More than 2000 species have been listed,
   including more than 100 new species to science  
• Spectacular erosion has carved the plateaus into a maze of deep canyons

Day 13: Back to Ranohira region

A real bed...
• Head back to the Ranohira village by the track at dawn 
• Cross the Mangoky river by ferry and arrive at
   Ranohira early in the evening
• Stay overnight at the welcoming hotel

Day 14: On the Road to Tuléar

More beautiful countryside...
• Early departure to Tulear, the straight road 
   continues to out of sight

   take a city tour
