Kotor is a wonderful historical town surrounded by an incredible fortress and situated on a bay with the same name.

My suggestion:
If you have the chance, hire some kayaks to explore the Bay of Kotor and get a stunning view over the old town and its fortifications.
My review

I travelled to Kotor from Croatia and after seeing Dubrovnik, the Pearl of the Adriatic, I thought no other place could match its charm. Well, it didn't take me long to change my mind! Kotor is definitely an eye-opener. A truly magical town spread over the steep hills of a bay located between Montenegro's sea and mountains.

The old town centre is perhaps not as splendid as Dubrovnik's is, but the relative lack of tourists allows you to enjoy more of Kotor's charms. Some advice: for a truly magical view of the town and its surrounding areas, climb the fortifications to the fort which overlooks the town and stands about 300 metres above sea level. Kotor is without a doubt an unmissable stop on any trip to the Adriatic Coast.
