Relax in the Langebaan lagoon in South Africa

UnwindSouth Africa

Discover the small, seaside town of Langebaan, found a half-hour north of Cape Town, where you can watch the spectacle of pink flamingos flying over its beautiful lagoon as you relax on its white sand beach. You can also set off on a stand-up paddleboard or kayak excursion to explore the lagoon's little islands.

Langebaan is a kitesurfing destination, too. You can rent all the equipment you need there, or have your local Evaneos agency organize a private kitesurfing lesson for you.

Not far from Langebaan lagoon, you can drive through West Coast National Park. This protected park is home to a wide variety of plants, and you might spot some of its many wild animals like ostriches, snakes, birds, and turtles. The park is also full of little beaches and coves that are perfect for swimming. In August and September, wildflowers blanket the park's northern edge. However, it's a beautiful place to admire all year round. After paying an entrance fee, you're free to roam the entire park by car or by bicycle.
