The perfect cone of the Arenal is one of the most iconic images of Costa Rica. This volcano was dormant for centuries before abruptly waking up on a sunny day in 1968, and has erupted several times since.
The scenery along its slopes is spectacular, alternating between lava fields and lush forests, and is home to an awe-inspiring variety of flora and fauna.
It's no surprise that hikers from the world over come to explore the trails of this beautiful region; a pure delight.
