Norddalen (Norway)

Norddalen is a very peaceful place which gets very busy, when summer comes, with all the campers and people who have cabins there. The village only has 200 inhabitants for the rest of the year, but the fine weather changes that figure drastically.

We arrived by boat from the village of Valldal and I must say that we were impressed by the modernity of the dock where we moored. Later, we went to a summer farm a little higher up the mountain where there were amlost more people than in the village itself. The children were playing around the little houses and the smell of local specialities, a porridge made with sour cream, was wafting through the air. I also tried their dried meats, which were very salty but really delicious and there was plenty of it with the sweet porridge. As night fell, we returned to the village.

You'll meet lots of locals and people from the surrounding region in Norddalen, but they're used to visitors and nearly all of them speak English. A really great place to stay when you're on holiday in Norway.
