I spent an enjoyable two days in Sucre on my trip to Bolivia. It's a very nice and pleasant city to visit. It is possible to see some very beautiful sunsets if you head up to La Recolta, which is located in the heights above the city. Additionally, and due to the fact that this is quite a religious country, I even got to see and participate in a religious procession (many of these take place throughout the year). It was all highly colourful, with lots of singing. When I went walking around Sucre, I found myself frequently accosted by tour operators trying to get me to take a tour of the city or the area around it. I finally opted for the services of an independent guide who proposed travelling along a Sucre section of the Inca Trail and visiting some of the villages of the Jalqu'a&lt;, a remotely isolated indigenous people who speak only Quechua. Though it was quite interesting visiting these places, the language barrier was really a major obstacle, which meant there was little possibility of any real communication. The landscapes and scenery, which are quite arid here, were very beautiful.
