Los Esteros del Ibera is a marshy, humid region in the north east of Argentina, in the province of Corrientes.

My suggestion:
Don't forget to take an anti-mosquito spray!
My review

What with its lakes, luxurious vegetation, wild animals and marshes, Los Esteros del Ibera, in the province of Corrientes, is a little known region of Argentina. Nonetheless, it's worth the detour if you are going to San Ignacio, Posadas or to the Iguazu waterfalls.

Esteros' warm and humid climate has encouraged the proliferation of numerous species of sub-tropical plants. It is home to lots of animals, such as caiman, monkeys, capybara, parrots, rhea and giant ant eaters. An absolute paradise for animal safari lovers. This exceptional ecosystem is classed as a humid zone and protected by RAMSAR.

I explored this wild region of Argentina during a long weekend with a friend from the region. We stayed in his family home which is on the edge of this immense wetland. We visited a huge caiman farm, an estancia and the Mocona waterfalls. What do I remember best? The night time, when the animals came out of their daily torpor. Suddenly, nature seemed to become all powerful...It was surprising and fascinating.
