El Soberbio is an Argentine village that is only a few kilometres from the Brazilian town of Porto Soberbo, on the Rio Uruguay, in the province of Misiones.
El Soberbio's 20,000 inhabitants have mixed cultural backgrounds. There are some Guaranis, but also Germans and Poles from the multiple waves of immigration to the region during the 19th and 20th centuries.
Being so close to Brazil has influenced the population in many ways: there are samba schools in town, and people speak portuñol, a mixture of Portuguese and Spanish.
I had the opportunity to visit the place for a day during my trip to Posadas. To be honest, there's nothing special in the town, you needn't bother...
