Bordered on its southern edge by the coast of Turkey, the Black Sea is immense: as wide and expansive as it is famous and legendary. So there you have it: the ideal opportunity to add real images to the geography lessons we had as children.
My suggestion
Where to stay by the Black Sea? Amasra is a very pretty port, and the beaches around twenty kilometers away are even nicer still.
The Black Sea borders the north of the country and has numerous magnificent areas which are a lot more intimate than the Mediterranean coast in the south of the country.
My suggestion
If you are staying in Istanbul it's easy to get to the Black Sea for a day excursion. A great experience.

If you travel to the east of the coast, don't miss the fishing villages and tea plantations between Trabzon and the Georgian frontier.
