Bordered on its southern edge by the coast of Turkey, the Black Sea is immense: as wide and expansive as it is famous and legendary. So there you have it: the ideal opportunity to add real images to the geography lessons we had as children.
My suggestion:
Where to stay by the Black Sea? Amasra is a very pretty port, and the beaches around twenty kilometers away are even nicer still.
My review
"Daddy? Is it true the Black Sea is completely black?" Twenty-eight years later, on a trip to Turkey, I had the chance to find out for myself and finally get an answer to the question asked by the child I once was.

The Black Sea borders the north of the country and has numerous magnificent areas which are a lot more intimate than the Mediterranean coast in the south of the country.
My suggestion:
If you are staying in Istanbul it's easy to get to the Black Sea for a day excursion. A great experience.
My review
Summer is here and the good weather has arrived, and it seems that the whole of Europe and Turkey are looking at the Mediterranean coast of the country, where the enormous hotel complexes are filling with the tourists come to enjoy the sublimely beautiful rugged coasts, turquoise sea, and lovely creeks. On the other hand, the country's other coast, on the border of the Black Sea, seems abandoned. In my opinion it's much better!

Little visited by tourists, the Black Sea is one of the best guarded secrets of Turkey.
My suggestion:
If you travel to the east of the coast, don't miss the fishing villages and tea plantations between Trabzon and the Georgian frontier.
My review
I went to the Black Sea coast by chance and I have to admit that it was a very good surprise. Most of the tea grown in the country is grown in this region (which also drinks a lot of it). The landscape around the Black Sea is very green, and the terraced plantations of perfectly pruned bushes almost reminds you of the Far East. It is also interesting because there are a large number of little fishing villages whose architecture is very different to that in the rest of Turkey. You can stop and eat freshly caught fish. On the Black Sea coast there is also a site which is often missed by visitors during a trip to Turkey and which nonetheless is spectacular - Sumela monastery, which dates from the 13th century and is built into a cliff.
