It's one of the oldest continuously inhabited towns in the world so it's not surprising that there are lots of marvels to discover in Gaziantep.

My suggestion:
It's out of the question to go to Gaziantep without trying its specialties, baklava and pistachios.
My review
Gaziantep is a dynamic city of more than 1 million inhabitants in the south-east of Turkey, on the Syrian border. Most people go there to visit the incredible Zeugma mosaic museum, or the fortress and old town which are worth a visit.

Gaziantep, often abbreviated as Antep, is a city located in south-east Turkey, near to the River Euphrates and the Syrian border. It is mainly populated with Kurdish people.

My suggestion:
Buy olive oil soaps, made on site.
My review

A calm and welcoming city, Gaziantep houses an ancient Byzantine fortress that I would recommend visiting. It is located on the central small island of the city.

My best memory is without doubt the Gaziantep Museum of Archaeology. From the outside, its architecture is modern and pretty. On the inside, its dimmed lighting creates an air of discovery and curiosity. The museum is quite large, I allocated three hours to visit it. Some mosaics are still in good condition, others have been reconstructed. Some are small and others are very large. The most famous mosaic is the face of a young girl.

I was impressed by the detail, the colours and the size of the mosaics. But also by the work of curators and by the beauty of ancient mosaics which have survived throughout our history. I strongly advise you to visit it because this trip will definitely remain in my memory for a long time.
