The canyon that has been carved out by Fish River is emblematic in Namibia, not only for hiking but also for the amazing views it offers from different locations. Fish River Canyon is actually the second largest canyon in the world.

My suggestion:
If you wish to do the famous 3- to 5-day trek, you must plan ahead. Bring an English language medical certificate and book in advance, because the number of places is limited and the trek can only be done in winter, when temperatures are low.
My review

There are those who, like myself, have seen Fish River Canyon from above and those who have been lucky enough to be able to go down and tackle this famous trek on foot. But for this last option, you must be organised and leave with a small, self-sufficient group. Those who try it without having obtained authorisation are liable to a fine. Nothing has been organised on site.

But the view on Fish River Canyon from one of the panoramic viewpoints is in itself worth the trip. I went to Hobas, where the road leaves for the viewpoint. The canyon is immense and rocky, and the distance is so surprising that you don’t even feel dizzy. Some parts of the canyon are private property and are not accessible.
