Discover Tanazania's best dive spots

ActiveTanzania

The waters of the coast of Tanzania are rich in marine life. If you want to set off on a diving expedition, your local agent will craft the perfect itinerary depending on your experience and what you want to see.

The majority of the country's diving spots are clustered around the Zanzibar archipelago and off the coast to the north of Dar es Salaam. There's excellent visibility here and a good range of dives for all abilities. The reef near the Mnemba Atoll suports damselfish, ghost pipefish, and scorpionfish, while green turtles and hawksbill turtles regularly pass Pemba and Misali Island.

Further south, you can dive near Mafia Island's protected coral reef. The marine park here teems with more 400 species of fish and 48 types of coral. Plan your trip between October and March, and you might even spot whale sharks.
