Best places to visit in Vietnam

Vietnam will surprise you with all the different sides that it offers to all those lucky enough to step foot there. It's difficult to decide on which sites to visit as the big country has so many unexpected resources but the advice of travellers from Evaneos Travel will help you to determine what you want and to create a trip which is even better than you expected.

Certainly, Ha Long Bay is the most famous tourist attraction in Vietnam, but the countryside around Phong Nha Ke Bang or even the historic city of Hue are also jewels of Vietnam.

One thing is certain, the smile of the Vietnamese people will accompany you everywhere you go and the people you meet during your trip will give you a warm welcome. Sharing moments with people of ethnic minorities will remain an unforgettable experience full of authenticity.

If you like dynamic cities, you'll enjoy the capital Hanoi and the modern city of Saigon. Culturally rich, these lively cities will allow you to observe the expansion of the country and to immerse yourself in the history of Vietnam so as to better understand its inhabitants and the transformation now.

Those who love nature will be overwhelmed... Between the majestic mountains of the North of the country and the several national parks, flora and fauna have the place of honour in Vietnam. By motorbike or by foot, exploring these landscapes untouched by civilisation is a delight. Paddy fields change colour according to the season and are a natural beauty that you can only love to admire.

If you want to run aground on an island, eat fresh fish and enjoy the calm: the tourist island of Phu Quoc or the wild islands of Cham are worth the journey and offer a change of scene.

At 35km from Hô Chi Minh, the Củ Chi Tunnels are a dark reminder of the Vietnam War.
Thac Ba is a big artificial lake situated close to Yen Minh and is the water reserve for Vietnam's first hydroelectric power station.
The port city of Đà Nẵng is somewhere to stop at and visit when touring Vietnam, though I didn't find it really had much of interest to offer. The Marble Mountains and the Linh Ung Pagoda are in my opinion the two most interesting sites to see in the area around Đà Nẵng.
Can Tho is the largest city on the Mekong Delta, and a pleasant place for a stopover during your trip to Vietnam.
25 km from Vinh Long or 45 km from My Tho, on the banks of the Mekong, Cái Bè is a pretty and authentic town. It has one of the most typical floating markets of the delta.
At 285km from Hô Chi Minh, Chau Doc is situated at the north of the Mékong Delta. It's an enjoyable town close to Mount Sam, one of the many reasons why it's worth a visit.
A popular destination on this part of the Vietnamese coastline, Phan Thiet is known for its lighthouse and its red sand dunes.
Noi Bai is the biggest airport in the north of Vietnam. It is 45 km north of the centre of Hanoi.
The Thiên Mụ Pagoda is the emblem of the city of Huế. Standing perched atop a hill, it looks out over the Perfume River and offers wonderful views of the mountains.
Buôn Ma Thuộtest is the capital of Đắk Lắk Province, in Vietnam's Central Highlands region.
Nha Trang is a seaside town in the centre of Vietnam's coast.
The city of Ninh Binh serves as a place to spend a quick overnight stop before heading on to the Hạ Long Bay area.
Haiphong, is an industrial port which is the departure point for excursions to Ha Long bay and Cat Ba island.
Mỹ Tho is the most easterly city on the Mekong Delta as well as the closest to Hô Chi Minh City, which is located just 65 kilometres away.
Dien Bien Phu city, capital of the province with the same name, is not in itself a tourist destination but constitutes a vestige of the war in Indochina.
Quy Nhon is a seaside resort, calm but not particularly charming, with luxury hotels built along the coastline.
Dong Hoi, is the stopover town for going to Vietnam's famous Phong Nha Ke Bang national park. It is full of all sorts of hotels and is popular with Vietnamese holidaymakers.
Lao Cai is a town that overlooks China.
75 km from Hanoi in the direction of Dien Bien Phu, Hoa Binh is a small town with absolutely nothing worth seeing.
