The Thiên Mụ Pagoda is the emblem of the city of Huế. Standing perched atop a hill, it looks out over the Perfume River and offers wonderful views of the mountains.

My suggestion:
Try to visit in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the masses of tourist buses that congregate in front of the pagoda. The cheap restaurants and food stands all around the pagoda are sure-fire rip-offs.
My review

I took a boat from the city centre to get here, which I think is a good idea because it enables you to get a nice view of the whole pagoda.

I really enjoyed gently exploring this famous pagoda of the "celestial lady" – a Buddhist tower whose seven storeys represent the seven reincarnations of Buddha – via the climb up its steps, which it has to be said are steep.

What I liked best of all was the view from the top of the hill and the peaceful atmosphere that reigns over the place. The park surrounding it is very well maintained and contains an incredible variety of both small and larger bonsai.

There are Buddhist priests actually living on the site, lending the place that spiritual aspect! You can observe them maintaining the garden, taking their meals, and, if you happen to get the opportunity, you can even attend their prayers.

I've been to this pagoda several times as it's a nice place to go for a walk, far from the hustle and bustle of the city; time seems to stand still there, and you can take advantage of this to enjoy a relaxing break from your travels around Vietnam.
