A small village full of character in the back country of the wine routes near Cape Town.

My suggestion:
Don't forget to drive the panoramic trail which starts in Wellington and passes through Tulbagh on its way to Ceres.
My review

Tulbagh may seem like a small town on paper, but it is an important historic centre, with 30 points of interest. It was one of the first towns built by the colonists and was founded by the Thérons, a large Huguenot family from Nîmes. Their descendants own the Montpellier vineyardlink. And one of their distant cousins is the famous actress Charlize Theron.

I found the tour of the city very enjoyable, especially having a drink on the terrace in the shade of the large oak trees. The buildings are extremely beautiful. The Oude Kerk Volksmuseum and De Oude Drosdy are architecturally beautiful places to visit, but you have to be really interested in the colonists' old way of life or never have visited the historic Stellenbosch houses before as it is a bit repetitive, with the same objects and same style of houses.
