A Little village in the heart of the Little Karoo, Montagu is situated on the Brandy route (more well known under the name of route 62), in the mountains, between Oudsthoorn and Cape Town.

My suggestion:
Spend the night in Montagu if you can, it's the prettiest village in the region, close to the Aquila and Inverdoorn reserves.
My review

The village of Montagu is truly wonderful with its Cape Dutch style houses, all white with wines, in an exceptional mountain panorama. It is situated just before a magnificent mountain pass, on route 62, a panoramic route at altitude surrounded by multiple estates which produce wine, but also, as a bit of a change, brandy (local cognac), cheese and olives. I loved having lunch there and regret not spending the night.

I still tried the village's famous natural hot water baths, incredibly relaxing! The hotel where the pools are found is well fitted out and the water is at 43°C. It's best to go there as night falls when it is a bit cooler, the summer heat is unbearable during the day.
