During my trip to South Africa, I sometimes felt as if I was actually in Europe or Australia. The buildings in the cities don't really match the traditional image we have of Africa, so to speak.
If, like me, you feel that need for authenticity, for an experience of the real Africa, then I have no hesitation in recommending a few days in this so unfamiliar country to you. This "Kingdom in the Sky", as it's also known (its lowest point lies at an elevation of 1400 metres), offers absolutely magnificent mountain landscapes extending as far as the eye can see. The harsh climate at altitude will encourage you to adopt the local practice of simply wrapping yourself up in a large blanket.
In summary, though Lesotho can seem a difficult place to get to, this may just be a way to protect this little paradise from mass tourism.
