Chiapas is an absolutely wonderful region located in the very south of Mexico on the border with Guatemala. In the jungle lie ruins dating from the time of the Maya civilisation.
My suggestion:
In my opinion, Chiapas is the most fascinating region in Mexico. One piece of advice: take enough time to properly explore it and better immerse yourself in its atmosphere.
My review
Chiapas is one of the essential places to see when
visiting Mexico. The region's attraction to tourists is undeniable. Its mountains are covered in lush jungle; the experience of meeting indigenous people is always very emotionally affecting; and the chance to ecnounter Zapatistas incredibly instructive. Amongst the main sites is of course that of Palenque, which is inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage. Other places to visit and discover are Agua Azul, Comitán, Chamula and San Cristóbal de las Casas.
