Mount Nebo is one of my favourite memories from my trip to Jordan. The site is natural, modestly-sized and calm.It's not particularly touristy, so you can take your time to admire the mosaics. I particularly appreciated the information provided with the exhibition - it was factual and clearly explained. I felt a closer historical connection to Mount Nebo than I had at other sites in Israel or Jordan .Plus I got to enjoy some great views of rolling hills with Jericho and the Dead Sea in the distance. There's a map so you can get your bearings - a nice, practical touch. I found the ambiance to be calm, even moving.

During my <a href="/jordan/">trip to Jordan</a> I climbed to the 840-meter high summit of Mount Nebo, or Siyagha as it is also known. A visit to the mountain is generally combined with a visit to Bethany. Every hotel in Madaba offers an organized visit. Seeking a more peaceful experience, and to avoid joining a tour group, I easily hitch hiked there.
