In the footsteps of Moses: Mount Nebo!

My suggestion:
If possible, choose a day when the sky is clear to make the most of the panoramic view.

A very well designed site welcomes visitors to Mont Nebo during their travels around Jordan.

Ten kilometers from Madaba or 25 kilometers from Bethany, Mount Nebo is one of the many biblical sites that are located in Jordan.

My suggestion:
I recommend that you visit Mount Nebo in the morning. The light is ideal to make the best of the view.
My review
During my trip to Jordan I climbed to the 840-meter high summit of Mount Nebo, or Siyagha as it is also known. A visit to the mountain is generally combined with a visit to Bethany. Every hotel in Madaba offers an organized visit. Seeking a more peaceful experience, and to avoid joining a tour group, I easily hitch hiked there.

An historical site with stunning views.

My suggestion:
Cover your head - it's very hot and there's little shade.

Mount Nebo is one of my favourite memories from my trip to Jordan. The site is natural, modestly-sized and calm.

It's not particularly touristy, so you can take your time to admire the mosaics. I particularly appreciated the information provided with the exhibition - it was factual and clearly explained. I felt a closer historical connection to Mount Nebo than I had at other sites in Israel or Jordan .

Plus I got to enjoy some great views of rolling hills with Jericho and the Dead Sea in the distance. There's a map so you can get your bearings - a nice, practical touch. I found the ambiance to be calm, even moving.
