Fludir itself doesn't have any major sites, but it's a handy base from which to explore the area.

My suggestion:
If you want to immerse yourself in Icelandic rural life, then Fludir is a great choice, particularly if you like horses.
My review

Fludir is a small hamlet not far from the Golden Circle. Due to its growing tourist industry, a lot of farms have been turned into guest houses and, during my last trip to Iceland, I stayed at a farm in Fludir. It's ideally situated between the southern road that leads to Vik and the roads to Geysir and Gullfoss; it's also a perfect place to get chatting to the locals.

This is one of the largest agricultural regions in the country and you'll see often see tractors ploughing the potato fields.

In recent years, families living in Fludir have turned their spare rooms into guest rooms for visiting tourists. A superb initiative, as it gives you the chance to sample local life on a farm, complete with sheep and horses.
