Arrival in the arctic capital; Nuuk - transfer to accommodation. Depending on time of arrival chance for a city tour. If not – city tour next morning. For dinner choose among a variety of fine restaurants in heart of Nuuk.
The tour starts with a 1½ hour city tour where all parts of the town are visited. The tour ends with a visit of the National Museum for 1 to 1½ hours. On through the old colonial harbor to the culture house, Katuaq, for Greenlandic tapas. After lunch, a short walk takes us to a local family for coffee and cake, and stories about living in Nuuk and Greenland, past and present. A one hour boat ride to Qooqqut allows the opportunity to fish, the catch being prepared and served by the chef at the mountain restaurant Qooqqut Nuan, along with other local dishes. Returning to Nuuk in the evening.
A morning boat tour takes us into Nuuk fjord, which is reached after around 2,5 hrs. depending on the ice conditions. Here, with a great view over the glacier Narsap Sermia, we enjoy our lunch with the only sounds coming from breaking, cracking and dripping ice. After lunch, the tour goes to the village of Qoornoq, a former fishing and hunting village now used for summer and weekend getaways. Here, we spend some time before heading back to Nuuk, passing a waterfall from the glacier Sermitsiaq along the way. The tour ends in Nuuk in the afternoon, with the rest of the day free for you to explore. An evening ferry takes you to Ilulissat.
Enjoy the day on the ferry between Ilulissat and Nuuk together with the locals. The trip takes you to the towns of Maniitsoq, Sisimiut and Aasiaat where it is possible to take small walks. Along the way you will for sure see whales, seals and lots of sea birds.
Arrival in Ilulissat at 13.00 and transfer to your hotel. The afternoon can be used for strolling around town, visiting the museum and taking in the sights. At 22.00 departure for the 2½ hour midnight boat tour to the Icefiord, between the gigantic icebergs.
This morning's boat tour takes you to the glacier at Eqip Sermia. Get up close to the glacier front and enjoy the fantastic scenery. Lunch will be served on-board while you wait for the ice to calve. Along the way you'll pass steep mountains with bird life and waterfalls. You'll also pass the settlement of Oqaatsut and big fjord system called Pakitsoq, home to whales and seals.
There is no fixed program for this day but optional tours are available. For example, you can explore the village of Ilimanaq, or a hike to the settlement ruins of Sermermiut, directly by the Icefiord. A walk to the harbor is also recommended. Boats of different sizes arrive all day to sell their catch of halibut and shrimp to the local factories.
Today it's Helicopter time. Would you like to see Ilulissat from above and the amazing UNESCO Word Heriatage glacier from above. The goal is to land in the middle of the preserved area. Here you have a half an hour to enjoy the wonderful nature and the beautiful surroundings... Ilulissat is the most productive glacier in the Northern hemisphere. It is 7 kilometers wide and more than 1 kilometer deep. The glacier produces 42 million tons of ice and it can move up to 50 meters a day. The Helicopter takes off from Ilulissat airport. Crossing hills, lakes, and Icefjords.
Today it’s time to say goodbye to Greenland. Transfer from the hotel to the airport is organized by the hotel.
