Located on the west coast of the island, Ajaccio is the prefecture of Southern Corsica. There's a good chance that your stay in Corsica will lead you there.

My suggestion:
If you want to see the sea from Ajaccio, remember to head to Parata point for a spectacular sight. Bear in mind that a bus can take you directly to Parata point.
My review

As the main administrative and economic hub of the beautiful island and of Bastia, Ajaccio benefits from being a city open to culture as well as having a beautiful natural heritage, thanks to its proximity to the Mediterranean sea.

As Ajaccio was the place where Napoleon grew up, several monuments are dedicated to him throughout the city, notably the Bonaparte House museum, the Napoleon I memorial, and the Imperial Chapel. You can also visit the Museum of Fine Arts and the A Bandera museum which explores Corsican history up until the Second World War.

The busiest areas are in the city centre and along the Sanguinaires road. I also recommend heading towards Parata point in the west which links these famous Sanguinaires Islands together. The walk from the city is incredibly beautiful and offers access to the wonderful beaches and coves which are dotted along the way.
