Calenzana is a commune in northern Corsica, which is located about fifteen kilometres from Calvi.

My suggestion:
Travel the alleys, away from the main street, to discover typical houses with real craftsmen who sell very high-quality delicatessen meats and cakes.
My review

I arrived in Calenzana by coach the first time, during a trip to Corsica. In fact, it's the starting point on hiking trails (GR20 and Mare e Monti). I choose to visit this extremely lovely village before setting off on the road.

I discovered very authentic, little shops offering specialities and, of course, I couldn't resist the fantastic Corsican sausage with myrtle, nor the cakes with a sweet chestnut flour base...

I went up as far as the church in the centre of the village. I spoke with some elderly people who were sitting on a bench in the shade and I sat on the terrace of a bar to try a local beer, nice and cool. There, I chatted once again with the local people and observed them. The street is an amazing show for those who know how to look!

In spite of the numerous hikers who pass through Calenzana, the village remains peaceful and the people are really lovely if you take the time to have a bit of a chat with them.
