Perched atop a small hill in the heart of Istria, Motovun is an adorable little village known for its truffles and its way of life.

My suggestion:
If you come in September, you can go to the truffle festival, but generally, you can eat this dish all year long in local restaurants.
My review

I really developed a soft spot for the small village of Motovun during my visit to Istria. Proudly built on a hill, you'll need to leave your car at the entrance to the village and travel the last metres on foot. Completely paved, Motovun resembles Provençal villages. Flowers in planters, well maintained small gardens, smart souvenir shops and truffles everywhere.

The first time I tried a truffle, I found the taste very strong but I quickly got used to it and discovered a passion for local dishes based on truffles.

But, Motovun is a victim of its success and the accommodation prices are relatively high especially for the area. Some advice, choose another town as a base and just spend the day wandering through the old village. The view of the surroundings from the top of the hill is amazing, and you can walk along the ramparts. A pleasant stop during your stay in Croatia.
