It is probably one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage site and you absolutely must go to Garganta del Diablo at Iguazú. "One of" if not "the" greatest marvels of <a href="/argentina/">Argentine tourism</a>. The first thing to do is wander along the long walkway on the river. After a kilometre you will begin to see the cataract known as Garganta del Diablo. The noise is deafening and the water vapour is really high. Every second the equivalent of an olympic swimming pool of water goes over the falls. If you want a different comparison, every person in the United Kingdom would need to turn on their taps at the same time. Its horse shoe shape is magnificent. There are a lot of visitors just here because it is the most impressive panorama of the site. If you want to be alone with the Devil then you need to come as soon as it opens in the morning or just before it closes at night.

Though the views of the Iguaçú Falls are impressive from the panoramic viewpoints on both the Argentinian and Brazilian sides, the Garganta del Diablo remains the key to the whole spectacle in both cases. You see la Garganta from different angles depending which side of the border you view them from. On the Brazilian side, you get a panoramic view from the bottom of the falls and you get hit by the fine spray they throw up. On the Argentinian side, a little train takes you to a raised walkway more than one kilometre in length. The walkway takes you along the course of the river that eventually leads to the 90-metre high chasm of the falls. The thunderous, deafening spectacle of the water tumbling noisily into the gorge is captivating to see. I actually thought it was even more impressive when viewed from above. If you're looking for additional thrills and excitement, I recommend one of the ten-minute boat tours. It's a good way to approach as close as possible to the falls.

La Garganta del Diablo (The Devil's Throat) is the highest of the waterfalls at Iguaçu. A thunderous, roaring and highly impressive spectacle to see, it's definitely something not to miss under any circumstances during your trip.
