Brookes Glacier is a colossal Chilean glacier in the heart of Alberto Agostini National Park, in southern Patagonia. 
I was lucky enough to see this Patagonian glacier during a wonderful cruise from Punta Arenas to Ushuaia. After a day and a night aboard Via Australis, we got to Ainsworth Bay, where we stopped to see the beavers which live in this wilderness. The walk was nice but we came back empty handed - not a beaver in sight! 
Then the boat headed off towards Guerrero Bay and the enormous Brookes Glacier. It is a particularly impressive wall of ice. During the cruise we saw a few sea lions and Magellan penguins who didn't seem at all bothered by us. I had already seen some close up during my stay in the Valdès Peninsula, but it's always a pleasure to see them again. A few metres away we could see the tip of the impressive ice field. Here the silence was complete, the only noise in this exceptional place came from the ice breaking off and dropping into the ocean.
