Al Hamra is a small town built in the earth, located at the foot of the Jebel Shams, the tallest mountain in Oman.

My suggestion

Al Hamra's old town, composed of abandoned earthen houses, is really worth a look. To get a better impression of the special atmosphere that prevails there, it's better to go early in the morning or at sunset.
