Al Hamra is a small, but rather surprising town. Located on a plateau at the foot of the highest mountain in the country, its location alone deserves a closer look. To take better advantage of it, I advise you to take the road that goes to the village of Misfat. This clear path offers an amazing view of the city and the amazing landscape that surrounds it. Another interesting part of Al Hamra is its old abandoned city. It’s hard to describe the feeling felt when walking these deserted streets in the middle of earthen houses half in ruins. There are particularly interesting architectural testimonials like intricately crafted wooden doors, and one can only imagine what life might have been like in this part of the city before it was abandoned by its inhabitants. Al Hamra also features a newer area that is much more lively.  If you go to the Jebel Shams during your <a href="/oman/">stay in Oman</a>, I strongly recommend taking a detour to this particularly charming city.
