A small port to the northwest of Morocco, around forty kilometres from Tangier.

My suggestion:
Enjoy grilled fish on the beach with the local fishermen.
My review

I lovedPort Assilah. During winter, off season, there are few tourists and I had the wonderful sensation of feeling alone, with only a few fishermen and local families for company. At sunset, locals often head to the seafront to enjoy fish barbecues washed down with mint tea. Time quietly slips by...

During a trip to Morocco make sure you take a stroll through the superb souk at Assilah, which dates back to the 5th Century. I loved exploring the amazing ramparts and towers that overlook the Atlantic Ocean and provide breathtaking views.

The town's architecture is also fascinating - a mix of Spanish, Arabic and Portuguese elements that forged Assilah's past.
