Through mangrove, dry tropical forest and wooded savannah, count approximately two hours on foot to reach Windsor Castle. The climb ends with a stone stairway with about 200 steps.
Windsor Castle, the ideal observatory for both Malagasy coasts, was coveted by pirates and then by soldiers, who built fortifications there which have now been deserted.
The climb to the summit is certainly worth all the effort - from the top you have one of the most beautiful 360° panoramas of the north of the island! To the west you can admire the Mozambique Channel, the islands of Nosy Hara and Nosy Hao, and to the east, the villages and Diego-Suarez. Look towards the south for the plains of Anamaka and the saltworks, or towards the north to catch a glimpse of the tip of Cape Ambre and the bay of Courriers. An extraordinary viewpoint!
Windsor Castle even has its own endemic plant: the pachypodium windsorii.
