More than 800 square kilometres of breathtaking scenery! Isalo National Park is a mountainous mass of Jurassic sandstone that spreads over a hundred kilometres at an altitude of between 800 and 1,200 metres above sea level.

My suggestion:
Be careful, a guide is essential if you want to adventure into the reserve.
My review

The south part of the park is a big plateau, 800 metres above sea level. The east part is a little higher - 1,000 to 1,200 metres, and punctuated with vast prairies and abyss like canyons. On the edge is a rocky escarpment that is very characteristic of the region, and a forest village on the banks of the River Menamaty. The west side has shallower canyons and a vestige of forest. Finally, in the centre of the park there are immense plains and plateaux.

As well as the canyons and moon like rocks, Isalo has caves, waterfalls, natural swimming pools...and more than 400 species of plants, including an endemic palm tree that has a specialised adaptation for fighting drought. The animal life is also very varied.
