Foulpointe, or Mahavelona as it is known to the locals, is a seaside town on the east coast of Madagascar.

My review

Its nearness to the city of Tamatave make it a popular destination for the locals, who come to take advantage of the seaside and the beautiful beaches of the area. On the agenda: lazing in the sun, walks on the warm sand and seafood...

Apart from enjoying the beach and water activities, you can also visit Fort Manda, located one kilometre from the town. It was built by King Radama I in the nineteenth century, using stones cimented by a concoction of egg white and ground coral. The remnants of the fort, with a diameter of 70 metres and a height of 5 to 6 metres, allow you to discover a facet of the history of Madagascar.
