Andavadoaka refers to the “pierced rock” , visible in the distance. Here, after an immense coral reef that is practically unbroken for 155 miles, the landscape gives way to islets. This place of transition makes the marine biodiversity here richer than in other reefs.

My review

The ecological specificity of the site prompted the WWF to mark it out as a marine reserve. The Vezo fishing village was also awarded the Equator Prize by the UNO for its project connected with the sustainable conservation and management of the marine biodiversity.

This makes Andavodoaka a mecca for deep-sea diving. In fact, not far from here lies the wreck of a Portuguese galleon for you to explore. As for relaxing holiday enthusiasts, they will find little secluded creeks and other dream lagoons. You can go on a forty-minute boat ride and end up on a desert island to enjoy fish freshly caught by your guide!

And just five minutes away by car, you can discover a prickly forest filled with cacti, tamarinds and hundreds of baobabs!
