In the direction of Menabe country Masiakampy is the departure point for barges and canoes, the ideal transport method for discovering nature and the daily lives of the residents from the water during a trip off the beaten track.
My review
You embark on the Tsiribihina River, which is as red as the earth, for a few days' trip, usually about 100 miles. You bivouac on fine sand beaches, greeting water turtles and lemurs that pass by.
Along the way, you'll be met with herons, wading birds, raptors, knob-billed ducks, and the fluttering dance of bats at dusk... When you step ashore, you can venture through the rivers and enjoy some stunning, pristine natural pools.
Passing through the Bemahara massif we get to see some beautiful gorges. And then the first sight of the baobabs announces your arrival at the plains...It's magical!
