Lake Itasy is a vast expanse of water of 3,500 hectares located near the town of Ampefy in the Madagascar Highlands.

My suggestion:
From Ampefy, you can walk along the lake shores or rent a pirogue from the inhabitants of the village for an excursion on the calm waters of the lake.
My review

In the heart of a volcanic massif, the lake was formed by successive lava flows that blocked the course of the water and created a natural bowl.

On the lake, an sacred peninsula houses the tomb of King Andriambahoaka as well as a colony of fruit bats. There are also possibilities for other excursions and hiking: the beautiful waterfalls of the Lily River, which feeds the lake, are situated 5 kilometres from the town of Ampefy. In the direction of Analavory, you will find cold water geysers that spit out a liquid charged with minerals, giving the surrounding rocks a beautiful yellow, red and ochre colouring.
