Situated on the the banks of the lake of Tiberias, the Mount of Beatitudes is the hill where Jesus is believe to have delivered the famous Sermon on the Mount. 'Blessed are the poor in spirit...'

My suggestion:
Rather than making your way there in the car, take the 1km walking route which begins at the entrance of the site.
My review

June in Tiberias: I know now that the summer is without a doubt the most difficult season to brave this region. But at least it makes up for it in abundance, with a pretty church in the neb-byzantine style and an unbeatable view of the Sea of Galilee stretching out to the horizon.

The beatitudes, evangelical tools that can allow the loyal follower to attain eternal life, are depicted in the stained-glass windows, whilst the seven virtues are represented around the altar. The interior of the Church of the Beatitudes is at once bright and understated, thanks to the marble and gold of the dome.

The archeological sites form the basis of every trip to Israel, and the region of the lake of Tiberias also conforms to this rule. I continued my expedition by going further down, closer to the bank, where researchers had set up excavation sites just next to the orthodox monastery.

The Mount of the Beatitudes is a Christian site on the shores of the sea of Galilee. It's best known for its neo-Byzantine church.

My suggestion:
A lot of people just go quickly round the church. But if you want to get away from the crowds and enjoy the area's peace, I recommend you leave the church and go walking in the gardens near the lake.
My review
The Mount of the Beatitudes probably means more to Christian travellers. A church was built on the site to remind people of Jesus' "Sermon on the Mount". So it's very important for pilgrims. For other travellers, the tree studded and shady garden around the church gives you a magnificent view over the lake. It's so rare to be able to see the lake so well that this deserves a mention. If you like Neo-Byzantine architecture you will like the church, which was built in local black stone. If you do decide to go to the sea of Galilee during your trip to Israel, then the Mount of the Beatitudes is a pleasant place to visit.
