An update from Evaneos
Costa Rica

In Costa Rica choose the low season for lower prices

Good news - a trip to Costa Rica is generally economical. You do need to know that, like in many countries, there can be a significant variation in prices between low and high seasons.

An economical trip

There is some good news for tourists who decide to go to this part of the world - during your trip to Costa Rica you'll quickly notice that it is relatively cheap.

Accommodation in Costa Rica will probably be your biggest expense. Most of the accommodation is mid-range. There is little budget or very luxurious accommodation.

On the other hand you will have lots of choice in your food. From little stalls and local cafes to top class restaurants, you are bound to find something to please your appetite and your purse, especially as prices are very reasonable even in the highest categories.

Some prices

In Costa Rica you will have real problems finding truly cheap accommodation. Of course there is some, but the majority of places are mid-range and relatively comfortable. Obviously prices vary depending on the season but generally a night in a double room for two people will cost between CRC 44,400 and 66,600 (£55 to 80). There are a few luxury hotels where prices tend to take off.

A full meal in a little local restaurant will cost between CRC 3,300 and 4,200 (£4 to 5.25). In a better quality and more classical restaurant you shouldn't have to spend more than CRC 8,400 (£10.50). On the other hand you will pay the same price, CRC 8,400 (£10.50), for just one dish in the country's best restaurants. So you can see it won't be your biggest expense, even if you decide to treat yourself when you eat.
