Brazil, for the discovery of a tropical land

Brazil is primarily a tropical land of exotic images where the majestic nature spreads infinitely, but which is under severe strain for reasons of economics, growth and human destruction.

The north-western Amazon

With its evocative name that conjures up the wildest dreams, the Amazon occupies the northern part of the country. It consists of 7 separate states which alone represent almost half of the territory, while being the least populated. Crossed by the mythical Amazon River, it is largely covered by the legendary river forest of the same name, the largest in the world. Its biodiversity is exceptional and unique. Unfortunately, it is in great danger due to massive deforestation, with total disrespect for one of the planet's vital ecosystems. Its resources are constantly diminishing. The soil, rich in different minerals, is also being stripped and exploited without limit, even if these resources are far from being eternal. Many associations, including Greenpeace, are fighting to protect this ecosystem.

The North also houses the ancestral forest populations, whose territory is under threat daily.

The Amazon widely contributes to the identity of a tropical land that we associate with Brazil. It benefits from a so-called dry season, from July to December, followed by a wet season.

To the south of the Amazon region is a region of plains and plateaux, also called the centre-west, which is defined primarily by the Pantanal, a marshy, wet area that is flooded at each rainy season. It is the richest ecosystem of the planet, both from the point of view of plant and animal life - for example, there are more than 650 species of birds.

The Nordeste, which includes 9 states, identifies itself as a land of great wealth derived from its plantations of coffee and sugar cane, which does not prevent it from suffering from extreme social misery.

The south-east and south

During your stay in Brazil, you'll certainly visit the south-east, which houses the main cities, including Rio and Sao Paulo. This region, which in fact covers only 10% of the territory, represents the major economic source of the country, not only for its sugar cane and coffee plantations, but also for its industry.
This region is particularly renowned for its idyllic coastline, where the beaches and bays are carved out between mountains and plateaus. Lakes, waterfalls, forests, natural parks and mountains complete the landscape.

Further south is the universe of the Braziliancowboy. This is where the famous Iguazu Falls are to be found, which you should not miss during a trip to Brazil.

The climate of the south is divided between an austral summer that is very hot and interrupted by sudden tropical rains, followed by a southern winter that is rather pleasant and mild.
