Walhalla is a magical place hidden in the middle of the Baw Baw national park, to the East of the State of Victoria. It's quite a surprise when you suddenly find yourself in this charming Australian village with its small wooden houses, a cross between a town in the Wild West and a Swiss hamlet.
Aside from the tiny village of Walhalla, with its current population of roughly 20 people, the region offers some incredible hikes through largely unspoiled areas of nature, rich in beautiful biodiversity, and through incredible fern forests Amazingly, it is also one of the only places where snow falls each winter, something worth pointing out!
In short, while Walhalla isn't an indispensable leg of your Australia trip, it's a beautiful destination where anyone with a bit of extra time to spend in the country will be able to reconnect with nature.
