One day
In Australia, I don't think I have seen water as clear as in the magnificent Nelson Bay, you can almost believe you are already at the Great Barrier Reef, some thousand kilometres further north on the east coast. I strongly recommend stopping either for a few days or at least the time to take a dip in these incredible crystal waters.
Moreover, I was surprised by the wilderness of the coast. Coming from Sydney we are used to small coastal towns running into each other almost without interruption and from Nelson Bay onwards, I found the coast more appealing as it is less populated and more natural.
However, the town of Nelson Bay itself is not exceptional. It is a major tourist centre with no particular appeal.
