Dalat is an old mountain resort that was built for the colonists of French Indochina when they sought out cooler temperatures. Today, it remains an outdoor destination with mountains, waterfalls, and of course, the cool temperatures.

My suggestion:
It is built on a mountain and therefore yes, it can get cool or even cold there, especially in the evenings - so make sure you have a fleece to keep you warm.
My review
Dalatest is a town in the Central Highlands, located at an altitude of 1,500 metres. Its unique climate allows it to maintain a mild temperature all year round, with a large lake located within the town's borders - although the lake was unfortunately dry during my visit due to clean-up operations. As I was accompanied by my better half on this trip, I started the visit to Dalat in the Valley of Love, a public park where everything is provided to help you relax, including carriages and two-seater pedal boats, all against a pallid yet completely natural backdrop.

After passing by the railways station, which is one of the old colonial buildings, we went to Dalanta Falls, a small waterfall that has a particular feature that will appeal to people like me who appreciate unique travel experiences: you can take the stairs as normal, but there was also (if you paid) a small Alpine Coaster available.

On the other hand, the Cam Ly Waterfall isn't worth it... paying to see a waterfall that has nothing special about it - no thanks. If you do want to see something a little out of the ordinary, visit the "Crazy House," an architectural concept that has been turned into a guest house. Finally, don't do what I did and overlook the superb Prenn Waterfall, located ten kilometres from the city - though you should take a tour of the market near the roundabout.

55 km up the hairpin bends of a mountain road Dalat is a peaceful mountain resort far away from the stifling heat of the Mekong delta.

My suggestion:
The best way to get about in Dalat is by scooter. It's practical for exploring the town and its surroundings. And, as all the hotels rent them fairly cheaply, why hesitate?
My review

Dalat is the best mountain resort for tourists in Vietnam. As soon as I arrived in Dalat I fell in love with the fresh climate and the breathable air that go with the altitude.

I recommend you go round the artificial lake first and then visit the market. I tried some strawberries and blackberries that were as big as they were delicious. A treat that you shouldn't miss for anything. I also visited the numerous famous colonial buildings such as the golf club, the convent, Yersin school, the cathedral, the governor's residence, the villas and, the star of the show, the superb station. Once I had finished this pleasant task I went off on a scooter. Dalat's surroundings are perfect for enjoyable trips during which I found some pretty villages, beautiful waterfalls...

In brief, I had a great stay in Dalat and I definitely recommend you go and have a good time in this famous resort.

Dalat is a town at altitude, on the high plateaus in the centre of Vietnam. Pleasant and charming, its calm atmosphere, surrounding nature and infrastructure are sure to please tourists.

My suggestion:
Hire a motorbike and go meet the locals around Dalat.
My review

Dalat is high in the mountains and surrounded by green hills. I have to say that Dalat is full of tourists, as many foreigners as there are Vietnamese. The fresh mountain climate is very attractive. There's plenty of opportunity to party in the town's bars which have something for everyone. In the centre of Dalat there is lake Xuan Huong which is a pleasant place for a walk. And right next to it are the really colourful botanical gardens.

Dalat's French quarter is full of charming colonial style houses and villas. It has a good view of Dalat, its lake and its famous "Eiffel Tower".

What I liked best at Dalat wasn't the town itself but its surroundings. Dalat is a great place for nature lovers. It has parks, lakes, waterfalls and lots of rural villages to visit. I went to Lat where the ethnic minorities live. The people were really nice and I liked it a lot.

Don't leave without trying Dalat's famous wine, which I think is the best you can find in this country.

In the heart of Vietnam, a pleasant stopover.

My suggestion:
Hire a motorbike to explore the surrounding area.
My review

I liked the city of Dalat mainly for its cake shops. I tested a lot of them in different places and I was never disappointed. I found it pleasant to get lost in the streets whilst exploring on foot as it is not easy in traffic.

I was especially interested in visiting the Mad House. The architecture and design are amazing, I almost believed I was in Spain in front of a Gaudi. I had not seen anything like it during my trip to Vietnam, it is very impressive. The place attracts many visitors, mostly Vietnamese. I stayed for at least 2 hours.

I also enjoyed hiring a motorbike and walking through the surrounding valleys to the lake. The route is really pleasant, even though there are a number of difficult areas. The view is not among the most beautiful that I have seen in Vietnam but it is still, nevertheless a good memory. I found some small isolated corners where I could observe children playing or fishing.
