Around thirty kilometres from Jeonju, Tapsa Temple and its 80 stone pagodas are a must-see during your trip to Korea.

My suggestion:
There are not many buses from Jeonju and it's a long trip, so ask your hostel for the timetable to avoid an unnecessary visit to the bus station!
My review

This temple is located on Mount Maisan, called "the horse-ear mountain" because of its peculiar shape. Legend has it that these peaks are gods that were on their way back to paradise when they were seen by humans and were turned into mountains. There are many hiking trails on the mountain. One of the most popular leads to Tapsa temple.

The curiosity of this temple is the pagodas built all around it. A hermit built 108 of them, all by himself, stone after stone, some of which reach 9 metres in height. He accomplished this feat at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. Eighty of them are still visible today.

After the hike up to Tapsa temple, I found that a stop at the Red Ginseng Spa of Jinan was the ideal place to relax at the end of the day.
