Enchanting scenery, cultural and gastronomical treasures known the whole world over, Peru is often one of the countries visited on a round-the-world trip. Amongst the most popular destinations is, of course, the ancient Inca imperial city, Cusco. The programme includes: Sacred Valley, a trek along the Inca Trail and, of course, Machu Picchu, the architectural masterpiece that is symbolic of the country,
But that's not all! Peru also houses pretty villages like Arequipa where the food is one of the best in the world. Will you let yourself be tempted by ceviche (marinated raw fish) or anticuchos (beef heart skewers)?
After eating, it's time for sport! Peru is a real trekking paradise: I was able to go on treks in the Cordillera Blanca, the Cordillera Huayhuash, the Colca Canyon... There's something to suit all tastes and the number of lagoons to admire along the way is impressive. It was during one of these treks between the Peruvian cordilleras that I discovered the Laguna Pacacocha.
