What could be better than a hike to discover the beautiful region of Cusco? The most famous is of course the hike along the Inca Trail which leads to the legendary Machu Picchu, but there are other worthwhile hikes such as the Ausangate trek.
This mountain in the Vilcanota mountain range has an altitude of 6,300 metres. Allow at least five days to do this fantastic hike through the Andes. But before you set off, you have to be in good physical condition and avoid mountain sickness, known here as 'soroche'. A word of advice - drink coca leaf infusions and take your time. The mountains await!
This hike is known to be difficult and sets off from (or ends at, depending on which way you choose) the village of Tinqui, three hours by road from Cusco. All along our hike, we discovered lush valleys, mischievous llamas and alpacas, remote villages and sparkling lakes... All in all, an absolute dream for any fan of the Andes!
